Artists of the Year
Each year Opera Guild of Northern Virginia names an Artist of the Year on behalf of Opera Theatre of Northern Virginia. The award is given in recognition of the personal dedication, professional achievement, and will to excel which transform talent into true artistic accomplishment.
2008 Award Recipient: Leslie Mutchler, Mezzo-Soprano

Leslie Mutchler, mezzo-soprano, made her OTNV debut singing the role of Maurya in our April 2008 production of Ralph Vaughan Williams' Riders to the Sea. She will next appear with OTNV in O' Lovers' Voice. Mutchler is a former member of the Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program at Washington National Opera and a Washington, DC area native. She has been a regular presence on Washington area stages since her Washington National Opera company debut as Inez in Il trovatore. Other roles with WNO include Hanna in Act Three of Die Lustige Witwe (a part of Trilogy: Domingo and Guests in Three Acts), Zulma in L'italiana in Algeri, La Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi, and Karolka in Jenufa. |
